Obituary of Ronald A. Magee

MAGEE-the death of Ronald A. 'Snooky' Magee of 310 Woodward Ave. occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2005. Born in Saint John, where he lived most of his life, he was a devoted son of the late Mary Bertha Cormier and Ronald G. Magee. He was very active in sports in various capacities; Saint John Dodgers, Saint John St. Peter's, Saint John Kinsmen, one of the founding members of the Saint john Umpires Association. He was an active member of Council 937 Knights of Columbus. He moved to Quispamsis in 1970 where he became very active in the church and the community. He was a founding member of Council 6766 K of C, Rothesay, having served as Deputy-Grand Knight and Grand Knight. He was also a founding member of the Kennebecasis Minor Baseball, having served as president, co-coordinator, coach, and umpire for Quispamsis. He was a Past-president of the Quispamsis Recreation Association and Co-coordinator for Quispamsis Field Days. He served councillor for the Town of Quispamsis for 18 years, including one term as Deputy Mayor. He was a founding member of the K.V. Disabilities Committee, actively participating until his demise. He is an active member of Council 6595 K of C, St. Ann's Church, Glen Falls, where he had been a caller for T.V. bingo. He was an Honourary Member of the Saint John Boys and Girls Club. He worked for the N.B.L.C.C. for a number of years as well as managing his own catering business. He also worked at various construction positions. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Merville and Doug Magee; and several aunts, uncles, and nephews. Leaving to honor his memory are his wife, Sandra (Iacuele) Magee; son, Duane and wife, Lisa; daughter, Deanna and husband Scott Murray; brother, Robert Magee of Australia; sister, Barbara Myles; sisters-in-law, Edith Giekie, Mary Redstone, Nora Perry, and Phyllis Magee; brothers-in-law, Tony Iacuele, Donald Perry, and Lloyd Redstone; special grandnephews, Caleb and Ethan Allen; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark's Church, Quispamsis, on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Following cremation, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart an Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Kidney Foundation, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
