Obituary of Ronald E. Stirling

STIRLING-Ronald E. Stirling passed away peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, N.B., on Sunday, September 11, 2005. Born May 17, 1913, in Rothesay, NB, he was a son of the late William Ernest and Cecilia Jane (Cotter) Stirling. A veteran of the Second World War, Ronald served with The Royal Canadian Army (Reme Unit, 5th Division) from 1942-1946. After the war, Ronald was employed as a dispatcher for SMT Transport and later moved into commercial travel. In 1951, Ronald went to work for CP Steamships (Princess Helene) where he worked for 26 years. After retirement Ronald worked for Sears for five years. Ronald was a member of the Canadian Legion and Commercial Travelers Association. Ronald had an active life in sports, favouring speed skating, and was always an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He was pre-deceased by his wife, the former Evelyn Marie Ouellette; and a sister, Grace Constance Stirling. He is survived by his daughter, Donna (Robert) Perry of Quispamsis; his son, William Stirling, Saint John; 3 grandchildren, Melissa, Sean, and Adam. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Memorial Service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at seven o'clock.
