Obituary of Donald G. Bryden

BRYDEN-the death of Donald G. Bryden of Rothesay, N.B., husband of the late M. Pauline (Chapman) Bryden, occurred peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 15, 2005. Don was born in Little Shemogue, N.B., on February 3, 1930, a son of the late John and Kathleen (Campbell) Bryden, and spent his youth in the Bayfield, N.B. area. Don served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1948 until his retirement in 1968, with the rank of Warrant Officer. He resided in CFB Shilo, Manitoba, for 39 years where he and Pauline raised their family and were active members in several community groups. Don entered the automobile business in 1961, and for many years served as the General Sales Manager at Binkley Motors in Brandon, Manitoba. In 1987 he relocated to New Brunswick where he proudly owned and operated Brunswick Chrysler Plymouth Ltd. in Saint John. He was known for his tremendous dedication, work ethic, and generosity in all aspects of his career. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Robert. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Critchley (Allan) of Rothesay; five sons, Byron (Geraldine) of Quispamsis, N.B., Grant (Shannon) of Saskatoon, Randall (Linda) of Saskatoon, Richard (Olga) of Rothesay, and Robert (Mark) of Atlanta, GA.; four brothers, Ian of Nanaimo, B.C., Duncan (Vera) of Fredericton, John (Lorraine) of Bayfield, N.B., and Roderick (Sandy) of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Don will be fondly remembered for his love of family, dignity, sense of humour, and kindness. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., Saint John, (506-634-1965) with visiting on Wednesday from 7 to 9. The remains will rest at Jones Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Port Elgin, N.B. (506-364-1300) on Thursday morning from 11:30 until service at one o'clock. Interment will take place in Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
