Obituary of J. L. Raymond Kennedy

KENNEDY- the death of J. L. Raymond Kennedy, husband of M. R. Bernice (White) Kennedy, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Monday, November 28, 2005. Mr. Kennedy was born in Douglastown, Quebec, a son of the late Leo and Jennie (Doggett) Kennedy. He had served overseas with the 4th Division Postal Corp during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 59 in Gaspe for 60 years. He had been Postmaster at Douglastown, Gaspe, for 30 years until his retirement in 1989 and had resided in Saint John since 1991. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Desmond (Deena) of Montreal; three daughters, Idella Cody of Orleans, Ont., Cheryl Chiasson (Eugene) of Isle Perrot, Quebec, and Lisa McGeachy (Kirk) of Saint John; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Wednesday from 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church on Thursday morning at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, Donations to the Alzheimer Society or Liberty Lane, Ridgewood, would be appreciated. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Memorial Service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock. www.fitzpatrickfh.com
