Obituary of Joseph D. A. McAulay

McAulay-the death of Joseph D.A. McAulay of 20 Beach Road, Grand Bay, husband of the late Muriel L. (McGrath) McAulay, occurred at teh Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 18, 2005. Mr McAulay was born in Stanhope, PEI, a son of the late John C. and Margaret (McLaughlin) McAulay, and was the last surviving member of eleven children. He had resided in the Saint John area since 1940. He had been employed as an ambulance driver with the Department of Veterans' Affairs for 32 years until his retirement in 1974. He served overseas with the South Saskatchewan Regiment during the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 22. He was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He is survived by one son, Kevin (Alice) of Grand Bay; three daughters, Mary Lynn Thibeau (James) of Yarmouth, NS, Maureen Lutz (Barry) of Oromocto, and Joann Feltus (John) of Browns Flat; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Liam Joseph and Devin Lauryn; his long time friend and companion Jacklyn McPhee; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Matthew's Church on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Burial will take place in St. Augustine's Cemetery, Westfield, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donation to St. Matthew's Church Building fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Members of the Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at seven o'clock.
