Obituary of Mary Catherine MacDonald

MacDonald, Sr. Mary Catherine - The death of Sr. Mary Catherine MacDonald (Sister Mary Andrina), of Ruth Ross Residence, occurred on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at her residence. Sister Catherine MacDonald was born at St. Margaret's Prince Edward Island the daughter of the late Hugh and Frances (McGrath) MacDonald. Sister Catherine entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 1938. Sister Catherine served as cook and housekeeper for many years at various convents; Holy Rosary in Fredericton, NB, and Regina, Saskatchewan, Mary's Home, Moncton, NB, and at Maliseet, NB, and Villa Madonna Retreat House in Saint John, NB. Sister also assisted at St. Patrick's Orphanage in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Sister Catherine later served as a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital while residing at St. Vincent's Convent. Sister retired to Ruth Ross Residence in 1997. Sister is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marcella (Simon) Dallmeier of California, several nieces and nephews. Sister was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Stephen MacDonald, and a sister Anne McCormack. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent 31 Cliff Street, Saint John, NB., with visiting on Monday, January 30, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am, from St. Vincent's Convent Chapel. Interment to take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil to take place Monday evening at 7:00 pm.
