Obituary of Doris Mary Keating

KEATING-the death of Doris Mary Keating of 30 Dresden Ave., widow of Walter R. Keating, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2006, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Keating was born in Saint John on May 20, 1928, a daughter of the late Timothy and Maude (Brophy) Rutledge. She is survived by her sons, Michael Keating of Fredericton, and Donald Keating of Palm Springs, Ca.; her daughter, Mary Elaine Keating of Saint John; five grandchildren, Andre Veinot, Natalie Coleman, Dan Taylor, Matthew Keating ,and Stephanie Woodworth; and four great-grandchildren, Tianna, Taylen, Takoda, and Tavian Coleman. Doris led her graduation class from Mount Carmel Academy and went on to complete her studies at the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton, where she became a registered nurse. She left the practice of nursing to become a devoted and caring fulltime mother to her beloved children. She was an accomplished pianist and violinist which parlayed itself into a lifelong love of music. In addition to her music, she was an avid sportsfan who spent many hours supporting the pursuits of her children and grandchildren in the athletic realm, especially baseball. Doris was a member of the Catholic Women's League and a devoted follower of the Catholic faith, and although unable to attend Mass on a regular basis in her later years, she attended services at home via television. She will be dearly missed as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. May God accept her soul into his kingdom. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Friday morning from 10 to 12 o'clock. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church on Friday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
