Obituary of Hazel Fournier

The death of Hazel Fournier of Loch Lomond Villa, widow of Lawrence Fournier, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 29, 2006, in the loving presence of her family following a brief illness. She will be sadly missed by all. Hazel was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Voutour) Freeze, and step-daughter of the late Dan Lowe. She was a Founding Member of the Mother's Auxillary of the Saint John Boys and Girls Club in 1970, serving as President from 1970-1989. She was the club's longest serving President and one of only three Life-Serving members of the Mother's Auxillary. She was predeceased by a daughter, Roberta Ferguson; a son, Charles Fournier; a sister, Doris; two brothers, Edward Freeze and James Lowe; and three sons-in-law, Gerry Davis, Arthur Bond, and Fred Ferguson. Hazel is survived by four sons, Danny (Betty), John (Janice), Doug (Beverly), and Bruce, all of Saint John; six daughters, Verna Yoston (Gordon) of Saint John, Helen Bond of Hampton, Olive Oram (Ron) of Wirral, Alice Vicars (David) of Saint John, Gloria Davis of Saint John, and Pauline O'Rourke (Karl) of Saint John; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
