Obituary of Eugenia C. Charlebois

CHARLEBOIS-the death of Sister Eugenia C. Charlebois (Sr. Mary Alexander) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Friday, September 15, 2006. Sister was born in Saskatoon, a daughter of the late Alexander and Agnes (MacDonald) Charlebois. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1939. Sister Gene studied and earned her Teachers' License in Edmonton. She taught school at Sacred Heart, Guardian Angels, and St. Francis of Assisi Schools in Vancouver from 1943 to 1954. Sister then studied and received certificates in Medical Stenography and Medical Records Technology. Sister Charlebois served at St. Vincent's Hospital in Vancouver from 1954 to 1970 and St. Joseph's Hospital, Saint John, from 1970 to 1972. Sister returned to Vancouver in 1972 and served as a Medical Stenographer until 1993. Sister has resided at Ruth Ross Residence since 1993. Sister was predeceased by two brothers, Jeffrey and Martin Charlebois; and four sisters, Josephine Gyllenspetz, Lilyan Reed, Agnes Craig, and Louise Johnson. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Phillipson of West Vancouver, B.C., and Mrs. Joan Ryan of Sequim, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil will be held on Monday evening at seven o'clock.
