Obituary of Margaret Rose Gilliland

GILLILAND-Margaret Rose Gilliland, passed away at the Dr. V. A. Snow Center, Hampton, on Thursday, September 28, 2006, in her 94th year. Margaret was born in Milford, Saint John, a daughter of the late George and Sarah (Legere) Burns. She was educated in Saint John at Milford and St. Vincent's Schools, and taught school in her younger years. She had been a lifelong resident of Saint John and Kings Co. area. She loved music, playing the piano, crosswords and reading a variety of books. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Leonard W.; two sons, James and David; two sisters, Catherine Crilley and Alice Patterson; and one brother, George Burns, all of Saint John. All her children are thankful to our parents for the gift of life, faith, music and laughter which they shared with us. A special thanks to all staff at the Dr. V. A. Snow Center in Hampton for the five years of sharing and caring which they provided to Margaret and family. She is survived by four daughters, Margaret MacDonald of Halifax, Joan Fowler of Hampton, Alice (Bill) Sinclair of Edmonton, Alberta, and Anne (Mike) Boom of Salisbury, N.B.; four sons, Anthony of Ste. Antoine, Quebec, Father George of Charlottetown, Leonard (Marion) of Kingston, N.B., and Dan(Angele) of Red Deer, Alberta; one sister, Bernadine Robinson of Saint John; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St. No visitation at Margaret's request . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bridget's Church, Chapel Grove, on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Bridget's Cemetery. The family would appreciate Mass Cards for the repose of Margaret's soul or donations to St. Bridget's Church Renovation Fund.
