Obituary of Sister Isabel A. Vickers

The death of Sister Isabel A. Vickers (Sr. Mary Isabel) of Ruth Ross Residence occurred at her residence on Saturday, October 11, 2003. Sr. Vickers was born in Blackville, N.B, a daughter of the late Patrick F. and Annie E. (Johnston) Vickers. Prior to entering the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1955, Sister Isabel taught at various places in New Brunswick. Sister continued to teach school in New Brunswick until her retirement in 1974. Sister was Co-coordinator of Religious Education at Johnville, N.B after which she was involved with the Pastoral Care Team at Rocmaura Nursing Home. She was pre-deceased by five brothers, Frederick Joseph, Gregory Michael, George Patrick, Archie John, and Lawrence Benjamin; and four sisters Miss Mary Kathleen, Mrs. Janette Barry, Miss Stella Honora, and Mrs. Clara M. Burton. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Solemn Vespers will be held on Monday evening at seven o'clock.
