Obituary of Martha Torrens Laderoute

LADEROUTE-the death of Martha Torrens Laderoute occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, February 16, 2007, after a brief illness. Martha was born in Westfield on May 14, 1920, a daughter of the late George W. and Margaret (Buchanan) Greer. She enlisted in the C.W.A.C. during the Second World War and was attached to the signal corp. in Ottawa. Following her discharge at the end of the war she raised her family in Nerepis where she served on the School Board. In the 1960's she worked as a Psychiatric Nurses' Assistant at the Provincial Hospital (Centracare) in Saint John. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Laderoute; one son, Michael John; her brother, James L. Greer; and her two sisters, Margaret Connolly and Edith Greer. She is survived by her children, Jean Laderoute of Saint John, Thomas Laderoute (Lillian) of Nerepis, and Ann Connell (Brian) of Public Landing; seven grandchildren, Rose, Wendy, Eddie, Andrew, Donna, Heather, and Sean; and 14 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation at the funeral home at the request of the deceased. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew's Church, Grand Bay, on Monday morning at ten o'clock. A reception will follow in the church hall.Entombment will take place in Fernhill Vault with interment to take place in St. Augustine's Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to Loch Lomond Villa, the Canadian Cancer Society, of the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
