Obituary of Raymond J. Buckley
The death of Raymond J. Buckley of Ridgewood Veterans' Wing, husband of the late Doreen (MacLean) Buckley originally of Charlottetown and Kensington, P.E.I., occurred at his residence on Thursday, May 29, 2003, following a period of failing health. Mr. Buckley was born in Sussex in 1918, a son of the late Ervine and Susannah (Purtill) Buckley. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Vincent and Victor; and four sisters, Geraldine McMackin, Marion Sweetman, Roberta Butler, and Marjorie Mackin. He served overseas with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War and retired from service after thirty years. Following his retirement, he worked in various security positions in Hamilton, Ont. for a number of years, before returning to Saint John in 2001. He is survived by one brother, Ervine Buckley (Alberta) of Saint John; one sister, Joan McQuoid (William) of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., from where the funeral will be held on Monday morning at 9:30 to St. Rose de Lima Church for Mass of Christian Burial at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Indian River, P.E.I., on Monday afternoon at four o'clock. Visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
