Obituary of Donald F. Bennett

The death of Donald F. Bennett, widow of the late Mary (Stanton) Bennett, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Sunday, October 26, 2003. Mr. Bennett was born in Saint John, a son of the late Albert and Catherine (Murphy) Bennett. He had served overseas as a pilot with the R.C.A.F. for five years during the Second World War. He was a longshoreman and had been a member of I.L.A. Local 273 until his retirement a number of years ago. He was a lifelong resident of the South End and was a former President of the City Market Seniors Club. He had been an amateur boxer in his youth. He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Margaret P. Maxwell of Saint John; one nephew, Mike Bennett of Montreal; two nieces, Karen Parks of B.C., and Cean Legere of Victoria, B.C.; and a sister-in-law, Doris Bennett of B.C. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church on Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
