Obituary of Mary McLewin

The death of Mary 'Maizie' McLewin, formerly of Ottawa and Windsor, Ont., occurred peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, on Sunday, June 22, 2003. Mrs. McLewin was born in Ottawa, a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (MacDougald) St. James. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Kathleen McCarthy and Isabella Doyle; and two grandsons. She is survived by two sons, Peter (Virginia) of Punta Gorda, Fla., and David of Toronto; one daughter, Gail Higgins (Len) of Saint John; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren in Canada and the United States; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., from where the funeral will be held on Monday morning at 10:30 to St. Pius X Church for Mass of Christian Burial at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Rocmaura Nursing Home for their wonderful and compassionate care of Maizie throughout her residency and in particular during her last few days. Donations to Rocmaura Foundation Inc. in her memory would be appreciated by the family.
