Obituary of Oliver J. Cormier

The death of Oliver J. Cormier of 219 Ellerdale St. occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 8, 2003. Mr. Cormier was born in Bathurst, a son of the late Francis X. and Ann (Muzerall) Cormier. He had served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army Railway Corp during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid bowler and cribbage player and had been a worker for the K. of C. Bingo. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 67 years, the former Josephine Frigault, in February of 2003. Besides his wife, he was pre-deceased by five brothers, Doug, Raymond, Ken, Billy, and Herbert; and a son-in-law, Earl McIsaac. He is survived by two sons, Frank (Elaine) of Saint John, and Daniel (Kathleen) of Hampton; three daughters, Geraldine Hanlon (Patrick) of Rothesay, Elizabeth McIsaac of Saint John, and Joan O'Brien (Michael) of Lower Sackville, N.S.; one sister, Margaret Logue of Saint John; 12 grandchildren, Garey and Darren Hanlon, Kim Kitchen, Pattie Dugay, Dominique, Jared, and Paul Cormier, Cathy Kuske, Sean McIsaac, Karen Knight, Mark O'Brien, and Michelle Beauchamp; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Tuesday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Legion Memorial Service on Monday evening at seven o'clock.
