Obituary of William Patrick Brown
BROWN-the death of William Patrick Brown of 370 Rockland Rd., Saint John, occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, June 24, 2003. Mr. Brown was born in Saint John in 1945, a son of William E. and Jean (Ross) Brown. He had a career of over 20 years with the R.C.M.P., as the Chief of Police in Stewiacke, N.S., as Chief of Police in Shelburne, N.S., and with the Fredericton City Police. When he was appointed Chief in Stewiacke, he was the youngest chief of police in Canadian history. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sons, Dr. William M. Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y. (mother is Elizabeth A. McDermott of Fredericton), Sean P. Brown and Thomas E. Brown, both of Saint John (mother is Mary L. Mahar of Saint John); three sisters, Terry Wirvin (Brian) of Wolfville, N.S., Susan Lane (Gene) of Annapolis Royal, N.S., and Jane MacMillan (Bruce) of Saint John; one grandson, Liam Crewdson Brown of Brooklyn; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
