Obituary of Archibald Frederick Smith

SMITH-the death of Archibald Frederick Smith of Saint John, husband of Mary Jane (Hunter) Smith, occurred on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at home after a lengthy illness. Born on January 13, 1941 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Raymond Joseph and Susan Marjorie (Touchebourne) Smith. Besides his loving wife of 40 years, he is survived by two daughters, Krista Mary (Jon Hovey) of Hampton, and Shari Anne (Josh Wheaton) of Saint John; two brothers, Albert (Barbara) Smith of Sussex, and Gordon (Mary) Smith of Dartmouth, N.S.; a sister-in-law, Toni Smith of Saint John; one grandson, Ethan Hovey; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and William Smith. He was retired after 33 years of service with the Province of New Brunswick Department of Social Services, where he worked in several capacities in Sussex and Saint John. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 6595. There will be no visitation at Archie's request. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church on Friday, July 13, 2007, at two o'clock. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint John Extra-mural or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
