Obituary of Sister M. Rita Lynch

LYNCH-the death of Sister M. Rita Lynch (Sr. Mary Canisius) of St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2003. Sister was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late William and Margaret Anne (McNanley) Lynch. Sr. Rita entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1935. Sister served at St. Vincent's Hospital, Vancouver from 1939 until 1994 in various positions at different times which included clerical work, CSR, Purchasing Dept. and Personnel Director. Sister Rita was the Secretary and Treasurer of the Catholic Hospital Conference of B.C. She was also a member of the Board of Management at St. Vincent's Hospital and at Youville Residence. At the time of her retirement in 1994, Sister Lynch returned to Saint John and has resided at St. Vincent's Convent. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, James and Charles Lynch; and two sisters, Angeline Horgan and Agnes Plourde. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Kelly of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
