Obituary of Vernon B. ONeill

The death of Vernon B. O'Neill, husband of Marion V. (Campbell) O'Neill, occurred at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Thursday, August 30, 2007. Mr. O'Neill was born in Saint John, a son of the late John and Elodie (Elward) O'Neill. He had been employed as purchasing agent at the Admiral Beatty Hotel and later as a member of the Corp of Commissionaires. He had served with the North Shore (N.B.) Regiment Baker Company Third Division in England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Holland. He was a Scoutmaster for many years and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 937. He was an avid bowler.Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Vernon (Patricia) of Vancouver, Stephen (Jean) of Lower Sackville, N.S., and Adam of Saint John; one daughter, Joanne "Nickie" Brideau (Jean Marc) of Long Reach, N.B.; two brothers, John J. of Saint john, and David (Carol) of Moncton; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Dad's greatest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life and having 57 years of wedded bliss. He was a special father who loved his children unconditionally. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald O'Neill; and two sisters, Barb Bogle and Ruth Frank." after "He was an avid bowler. By family request there will be no visitation at the funereal home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ridgewood Comfort Fund would be appreciated.
