Obituary of Leo J. McCluskey

McCLUSKEY-the death of Leo J. McCluskey of 299 Gilbert St. occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on Friday, September 21, 2007. Mr. McCluskey was born in Saint John, a son of the late Patrick and Jean (Rae) McCluskey. He had served overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53. He retired as Superintendent in the Works and Engineering Dept. of the City of Saint john in 1979 after 35 years of service. He had been National 1st Vice-president of C.U.P.E. in the 1960's. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ellen Pike; and a daughter, Mary Ellen Denton. He is survived by two sons, Francis of North Bay, Ont., and Patrick (Dianne) of Saint John; one daughter, Veronica Harvey (Donald) of Quispamsis; one brother, Melville (Shirley) of Saint John; two sisters, Madeline O'Hara, and Jean Vaughan, both of Saint John; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. By family request, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday at 12:05 P.M. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
