Obituary of Marthe M. Stanton

The death of Marthe M. Stanton of 137 Edith Ave., widow of Charles E. Stanton, occurred at her residence on Saturday, November 29, 2003. Mrs Stanton was born in St. Louis de Kent, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucie (Arsenault) Guimond, and had resided in Saint John since 1929. She had been employed as a seamstress at the East St. John Tuberculosis Hospital and the Saint John General Hospital until her retirement a number of years ago. She was a former member of Stella Maris Catholic Women's League. She was pre-deceased by a son, Charles G. 'Chuck' Stanton, in 1985. She is survived by two sons, Robert of Fredericton, and Paul of Saint John; one daughter, Marie Walton of Saint John; three brothers, Nazaire, Alonzo, and Roger (Elodie) Guimond, all of St. Louis de Kent; two sisters, Alieda Fraser of Quispamsis, and Laurette Guimond of Saint John; three grandchildren, Lorna Drummond (Doug) of Quispamsis, Krista Farris (Darren) of Saint John, and Michael Walton of Saint John; three great-grandchildren, Ben and Will Drummond, and Cole Farris, all of Quispamsis; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
