Obituary of Anne E. McLaughlin

The death of Sister Anne E. McLaughlin (Sr. Agnes Veronica) of Ruth Ross Residence occurred at her residence on Friday, December 12, 2003. Sr. McLaughlin was born in South Branch, Kent Co, N.B., a daughter of the late John Murray and Olive (Hanrahan) McLaughlin. Sister entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on October 7, 1931. Sister Anne was a teacher by profession and received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in 1958 and her Masters of Education from the University of St. Louis in 1962. Sister McLaughlin taught at St. Clare's School in Edmonton for thirty-one years and retired in 1974. Sister Anne served as a Reading Supervisor at St. Vincent's Hospital, Vancouver from 1978 to 1984. She was an avid reader throughout her life. Sister returned to New Brunswick in 1992 and volunteered her time to the Sisters at Ruth Ross Residence. She was pre-deceased by four brothers, George William, Daniel, and James McLaughlin; and five sisters, Alice McPherson, Ellen McLaughlin, Katherine McLaughlin, Elizabeth Murphy, and Sister Agnes McLaughlin, S.C.I.C. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent's Chapel on Monday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Solemn Vespers will be held on Sunday evening at seven o'clock.
