Obituary of Gertrude Lunney

LUNNEY-it is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Gertrude "Gert" Lunney, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. She will definitely be missed by her surviving siblings and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Eva(Bourque) Lunney; her brother, Cyril; and her sister, Marie (Steve) McCann. Gert retired from NB Tel after 45 years of dedicated service. She truly enjoyed gardening at her country home in Chapel Grove every summer. She also enjoyed the many trips she traveled with her brothers and sisters and their children. Photography was a talent she used very well. She participated in several dramatic presentations in St. Peter's School and in the Passion Presentations in different churches. She was a member of the St. Peter's Prayer Group and often went to Quebec to visit Ste. Anne de Beaupre. Some of Gert's happiest moments were shared with her nieces and nephews. Children could always put a smile on her face especially at the family gatherings. Gert was a warm and generous personality. She would start a conversation with strangers at home or when traveling. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Clara (Eugene) Graham of Saint John, Edna (Ken) Gormley of Somerville, Pat (Paul) McIntyre of Saint John, Bernard (Nancy) Lunney of Quispamsis, Sister Hilda Lunney (Sisters of Service) Toronto, Danny (Carol) Lunney of Riverview, and Mary-Eva Saunders of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Saturday morning at eleven o'clock. Entombment will take place at Fernhill Vault with interment to take place in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Chapel Grove, in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
