Obituary of Fletcher MacG. Till

TILL-after a long illness Fletcher MacG. Till of 69 Westgate Drive passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. Fletcher was born in Saint John, a son of the late Ernest and Edith (Thompson)Till. He was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School, captain of his swim team, and president of the Student Council. He was a member of the Royal Can Sea Cadets Corp and R.C.N.V.R. He had been an announcer with C.F.B.C. and C.H.S.J. and will be remembered by listeners for his sign-off "Good Night Dear Hearts!" as he spoke in his deep sultry voice. He resided in Toronto for 36 years where he was employed with the Toronto Sun before returning to Saint John in 2003. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Lieut.-commander John Till. He is survived by his five children, Greg Till of Nova Scotia, Debbie Thompson (Keith) of Ontario, Elizabeth Till of Ontario, Stephen Stokes (Debbie)of Saint John, and Carolyn Till of Ontario; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Brunswick Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
