Obituary of John P. Boyce

BOYCE-the death of John P. Boyce of 61 Newman St., husband of Marilyn J.(Dowd) Boyce, occurred on Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Saint John, a son of the late Edward and Beatrice (Doiron) Boyce. He was a self-employed film distributor for many years. He was a co-founder of the Peninsula Little League; was a coach with the Lancaster Minor Hockey Association; and had been an avid bowler, Fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of the Canadian Picture Pioneers. He was the personal taxi driver for his children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Boyce; a brother, Ray Boyce; and two sisters, Mary Vaughan and Germaine Badeau. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Marilyn J. Dowd; four sons, Peter (Ann), John (Mary), Tim (Sandie), and Will (Tracy) all of Saint John; one daughter, Ellie Boyce-Morris (Rob) of Saint John; three brothers, Tom (Betty) of Saint John, Edward(Margaret) of Norval, Ont., and Joe (Rhoda) of Saint John; one sister, Sister Mary Ellen Boyce of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Halifax, N.S.; one sister-in-law, Pam Boyce of Saint John; 13 grandchildren,Alison, Nick, Jacqueline, Adam, Ashley, Josh, Joe, Jorel, Chris, Natalie, Garrett, Jonathan, and Emily; 3 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jeremiah, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church on Monday morning at eleven o'clock. Private interment will take place in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Chapel Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
