Obituary of Victor J. Lavigne

LAVIGNE-the death of Victor J. Lavigne of St. Martin's, husband of the late Edna Mary (Madore) Lavigne, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Victor was born in Bathurst, a son of the late Amos and Lillian May (Montgomery) Lavigne, and had resided the greater part of his life in the Saint John area. He served with the Merchant Marine during the Second World War. He had owned and operated Vic's Texaco and Convenience Store until his retirement in 1989. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, David and Paul Lavigne and two brothers, Fred and Clifford Lavigne. He is survived by five sons, Richard (Linda), Frederick, Peter (Stacy), and Victor Jr. (Debbie), all of St. Martin's, and Daniel (Carol) of Hampton; three daughters, Lillian Jackson (Wayne), Laura Morrison (John), and Deborah Rourke (Terry), all of St. Martin's; two sisters, Audrey Dawson of Sussex, and Mabel Chaput of Deep River, Ont.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Service will be held in Fitzpatrick's Chapel on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will take place in St. William's Cemetery, St. Martin's. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lakewood Headstart, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
