Fulton, Hugh Francis Sr. February 20, 1927- March 7, 2009 son of the late Hazen and Frances (Doherty) Fulton of Minto, NB. Survived by his Dear Wife Mary Margaret Annie (Brideau); daughters and sons; Theresa Ann Smith (George), Saint John, NB, Hugh Francis Jr. (Sue) Pickering, ON, Hazen Robert, Saint John, NB, John Charles (Barb) Pontiac, PQ, Mary Catherine Fulton, Quispamsis, NB, Alice Elizabeth Fulton, St. Andrews, NB, Fr. David Eugene, Bath, NB, Neil Bernard, Saint John, NB, Joanne Phyllis Fulton, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Thomas Andrew (Michelle) Rothesay, NB, grandchildren, Shaun, Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Allison, Johnny, Jaimie, Jacquie, Nick, and Katie. Two great-grandchildren Andrew and Mya. Sisters Mary Emmerson, and Pauline Fulton of Minto, NB, brothers John (Blanche), Calgary, Gerald, and George (Stella), of Minto, NB, many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by two daughters Frances Margaret and Rita Pauline, and good friend Fr.Eugene O'Leary. Hugh moved from the village of Minto in his 17th year to Torryburn on the outskirts of Saint John where he met his future wife Margaret (Brideau).He graduated from Minto Newcastle Consolidated in 1944. He went on to study and graduated from Modern Buisness College. Hugh was employed by The British Ministry of Foods, then went on to be employed in the financial industry working for Eastern Securities, James Richardson Securities, Richardson's Greenshields (later to become RBC Dominion).After 50 years of dedicated service he retired at the age of 67. He was community oriented being involved with the Dury Cove Association in the late 60's & early 70's. Hugh was involved, with his sons, in the Cubs and Scouts and an avid supporter of Minor Hockey in the early days, coaching his sons and those of others at Simonds Centennial Arena- in the darkness of cold,early mornings. He was one of the founding parishioners of St. Anns's parish in Glen Falls and served a number of terms on its Parish Council. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Council 937 Knights of Columbus on Coburg St. He served on the Board of the Simonds Co-op. Hugh enjoyed time with friends and neighbours at a good game of crib or 45's. He enjoyed tenting with his family for years at Princess Park, Grand Lake, NB. One of Hugh's favourite pleasures in life was walking. He could be seen daily walking (more like a quick march) all over the Brookville-Torryburn areas solo or with one of his daughters and or sons. Hugh would never pass up a good chat wheather it was visiting neighbours, Saturday morning shopping or during one of his treks around the Villa Madonna. Hugh and Margaret were often seen the last Sunday of every month at Park Ave Church enjoying the sounds of the Park Ave Fiddlers. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling to Ireland and cruising the Caribbean. He will be fondly remembered for his many contributions. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, with Visitation Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann's Church on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at twelve o'clock. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, any Parish Memorial Fund, or Society of choice would be appreciated. Members of the Knights of Columbus will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock for prayers.
