Obituary of Sister Mary M. Clancy

CLANCY-the death of Sister Mary M. Clancy (Sr. Mary) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence, Saint John, on Friday, April 17, 2009. Sister Mary was born in Rogersville, a daughter of the late Thomas and Suzanne (Lavigne) Clancy, and had entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on February 2, 1935. She had served at Tobique, N.B., and at St. Vincent's Convent, Saint John. She was predeceased by two brothers, Patrick and Michael Clancy; and two sisters, Theresa McLaughlin and Margaret Ladauceur. She is survived by three sisters, Agnes Galliah (William) of Miramichi City (Newcastle), Anne Oickle (John) of Waverly, N.S., and Beatrice McGrath of Miramichi ; and several nieces and nephews. As a gift to others, Sister Mary requested that her body be donated to the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University for scientific research. Evening prayer will be held in St. Vincent's Convent Chapel, 31 Cliff St., Saint John, on Monday evening at seven o'clock. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Vincent's Chapel on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock.
