Obituary of Sister Catherine T. M. McCarron

McCARRON-the death of Sister Catherine T. M. McCarron (Sr. Lucille) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Friday, April 24, 2009. Sister was born in Salt Springs, N.B., a daughter of the late Henry W. and Catherine (McMackin) McCarron. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1943. Sister Catherine earned her Teacher's License in 1946 and taught at St. Peter's School in Saint John from 1946-1956. Sister furthered her education by earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Brunswick; a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan; and a Masters in Pastoral Studies(Counseling) from St. Paul's University in Ottawa. Sister taught school in Farrellton, Quebec, from 1956-1958 before moving to Moncton in 1958, where she taught at Mountain Rd. School and Queen St. School until 1964, when she returned to the west and taught at Holy Cross School in Burnaby, B.C. Sister returned to Saint John in 1978 and was involved in Charismatic gatherings, Cursillo, Spiritual Direction and Family Counseling. She later served as receptionist at the switchboard of Ruth Ross Residence. She was predeceased by five brothers, John Edward, Francis Xavier, Joseph, Basil, and Gerard McCarron; and three sisters, Mary Isobel McCarron, Mary Josephine McCarron, and Loretta Madeline McCarron. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marie McCarron of Moncton; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent's Chapel on Monday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Prayer Vigil will be held on Sunday evening at seven o'clock.
