Obituary of Raymond James Hamm

HAMM-it is with great sadness that the family of Raymond James Hamm announce his death at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Monday, June 8, 2009. Raymond was born in Saint John, the eldest son of the late Ward and Margaret (Kendall) Hamm. He was predeceased by Margaret (Gayton), his beloved wife of 42 years, in 1997. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army (Dental Corp) during the Second World War. He had been employed with Canada Packers until his retirement in 1983. He was very content with his life, filling it with his family and many hobbies and pastimes. He was a devoted and hard working member of the Knights of Columbus Council 937 for over 30 years. He was proud of and really enjoyed his work and the many activities as a part of the 3rd and 4th degree teams and the friendship of his fellow knights. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Warr (Gray); and his brother, Howard. He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Leclerc (Raymond), and Jane Farnsworth (Barry), both of Quispamsis; two sons, Raymond (Alison), and Peter (Kim) both of Saint John; his sister, Hilda Mason (Gene) of Saint John; and his six grandchildren, Adam and Jon Leclerc, Ken, Tyler, and Lauren Farnsworth, and Matthew Hamm. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday afternoon at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock for prayers. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society;the IWK Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family would express their heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff and friends at Ridgewood for their care and compassion during his stay.
