Obituary of Helen Christina Catherine Kenney

KENNEY-Helen Christina Catherine Kenney, formerly of the Admiral Beatteay Complex, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, June 15, 2009 following a brief illness at the age of 86. She was born in Saint John on May 2, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Georgina (London) McCaffrey. She worked at Moosehead Breweries, Willett Fruit Co., Pope's Machine Shop, and the veneer plant. She was a member of Maple Leaf Glade #1 for over 50 years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53. For many years she was an avid bowler and dart player. She enjoyed watching wrestling and playing bingo. Helen had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She was well known by many as "Mom". She was well respected and loved and will be sadly missed by all. Her spirit lives in many lives she touched. She was predeceased by two infant sons, Rodney and Joesph; three brothers, Royden, Frank, and Edgar; and a sister, Josephine. She will be loved and forever missed by her loving children, John, Joanne, Cheryl (Terry) Nelson, Tanya (Tim), and Royden, all of Saint John; her grandchildren, Chance, Tanya, Snooker, Nicole, K. W., Bridget, Kylor, Taniah, Kristen, Carole, and Heather; her 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Edith, Jackie, and Betty; and her caregiver, Deanna. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday afternoon at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joesph's Cemetery. Maple leaf Glade #1 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at seven o'clock. Following the interment a reception will be held at the Buffalo Club, 208 Union St.
