Obituary of John P. Barry

BARRY-the death of John P, Barry of 375 Ragged Point Rd., husband of Cindy M. (Stevens) Barry, occurred at his residence on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, following a period of failing health. John was born in St. John's, Nfld., a son of Elizabeth (Murray) Barry of Saint John, and the late Patrick Barry. He had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John where he had been employed as a painter with Saint John Shipbuilding for over twenty years. He had also been employed as a truck driver with Canadian National Railway. He had been a member of the Labourers Union the the Marine Workers Local 3. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his father, he was predeceased by two sisters, Elaine Richard and Dawn Cormier. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Stephen of Saint John; two brothers, Ronnie (Desiree) of Norton, and Paul of Saint John; three sisters, Betty Doyle (Bob) of Smithtown, N.B., Kim Barry (Douglas Hovey), and Patty Barry, both of Saint John; a grandson, Riley Stephen Patrick Barry; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Thursday from to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Friday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Extra-Mural Program and We Care for the care given to John.
