Obituary of J. Edgar Bastarache

The death of J. Edgar Bastarache of 148 Bellevue St. East occurred peacefully at his residence on Friday, February 13, 2004 surrounded by his loving children, Gerry, Phyllis, Diane Bastarache, and Lorraine 'Dede' Crowe, all of Saint John; and his grandchildren. Mr. Bastarache was born in Ste. Marie de Kent on July 20, 1915, a son of the late Thaddie and Edmire (Martin) Bastarache, and had resided in Saint John since 1956. He had been a C.P.R. trucker and was also employed with the City of Saint John Sanitation Dept. He was pre-deceased by two sons, Clarence and Leonard Bastarache; four brothers, Eric, Joseph, Thaddie, and Fred Bastarache; and one sister, Eleonore Collette. Besides his children and grandchildren, he is survived by one sister, Yvonne Richard of St. Norbert, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday morning at 10:30. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
