O'BRIEN,GERALD JOHN "JERRY"-After a courageous battle with cancer, the death of Jerry O'Brien, husband of Carol (Holland) O'Brien, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the age of 51. Born in Saint John, he was a son of Marlene (Darrah) O'Brien of Saint John and the late J. Gerard O'Brien. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Caitlin and Meghan O'Brien, both of Saint John; two stepsons, Corey and Evan Armstrong, both of Saint John; brothers, Michael (Sandra) of Morrisdale, and Patrick (Patty) of Saint John; sisters, Catherine O'Brien-Larivee (Rejean), and Colleen Arsenault (Robert) both of Saint John; nephews Brian Arsenault, Sheldon O'Brien, and Colin O'Brien all of Saint John; nieces Brittany Arsenault, Natasha Larivee, Melissa Larivee, Anna O'Brien, and Madison O'Brien, all of Saint John. He also says goodbye to several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and colleagues. for the past twenty years Jerry was the President of O'Brien Electric Co. Ltd. Since 2008 he has served as President of the Electrical Contractors Association of New Brunswick and was a member of the Board of Trustees and ECANB Training Trust Funds. He had previously served as its Secretary; Treasurer, and Chairman of the Industrial Relations Committee; ECANB Representative, Board of Director of the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association; and ECANB Representative, Board of Directors of the Saint John Construction Association. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Society; the Southern New Brunswick Corvette Club; the Irish Canadian Cultural Association; and the St. Malachy's Alumni Association. This much loved husband, son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend shared his passion for life, leaving us with wonderful memories which will last forever. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday at 12:05 PM Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
