Obituary of Cyril G. Doiron

DOIRON-the family of Cyril G. "Pete" Doiron are sad to announce his death, which occurred on his 90th birthday, February 3, 2010, at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing. Born in Saint John on February 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Cyril Placid and Anastasia "Annie" (Haley) Doiron. Pete loved music and entertained many with his beautiful tenor voice. In his youth he was a member of the Assumption Orchestra and also belonged to the City Coronet Band. Throughout his life any family gathering was a cause for a sing-song filled with natural harmonies. During the Second World War Pete was a Staff Sargent, responsible for the loading of ships with radar and other critical supplies for the troops overseas. He was also a faithful member of the Catholic Church and had a great devotion to the Virgin Mary. He had been an active member of the Catholic Community Club and the Legion of Mary. Pete was employed for many years with Imperial Oil until his retirement at 64 years. Given that his wife said "I married you for better or worse, but not for lunch", he returned to work at age 65 with Park Fuels and LeRoy's Heating Service and continued to work full time until the age of 82. Pete was predeceased by his wife, the former Constance Finigan; his sisters, Yvonne Rough and Eleanor Doiron; his brothers, Francis "Frank", Charles, and Eugene "Deaner"; and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Doiron.
