Obituary of James E. Fennell

The death of James E. Fennell of 77 Topeka St. occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, March 26, 2004. Mr. Fennell was born in Saint John, a son of the late Charles F. and Mary Ellen (McCrossin) Fennell. Jim had served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He had been employed as a welder with T. McAvity's for over 35 years and was keenly interested in harness-racing. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, the former Marion C. Quinn in 1971; his second wife, the former Phyllis B. McLean in 1997; one son, Robert E. Fennell; two brothers, LeBaron Fennell, and Bro. Basil Mahar (Presentation Brothers); and three sisters, Martina Fennell, Pauline Keyes, and Constance Bourque. He is survived by three sons, James A. (Linda), Terrence B. (Karen), and William C. (Linda), all of Saint John; two sisters, Mrs. Rita Hunter of Saint John, and Mrs. Josephine Arrowsmith of Pointe Clare, Quebec; 8 grandchildren; Timmy, Tammy (Scott Lewis), Trudy, Allison, Chris, Cathy, Heather, and Kelly (Chris Hamlyn); 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Stella Maris Church on Monday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
