Obituary of Mary Dorothy Maloney

The death of Mary Dorothy 'Dede' Maloney, widow of J. Edmund Maloney, occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. Mom was born July 3, 1913 in Fairville, a daughter of the late Fred and Maude (Collins) Butler.She lived most of her life on Manawagonish Rd. where she attended St. Rose School and St. Vincent's Girls High School (class of 1931). Mom was a life long parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Church where she was a member of the C.W.L. She was also a member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association and the Liberal Association. Mom is survived by two children, daughter Joan Noah (Jim) of Scarborough, Ont., and son, Leo Maloney (Carol) of Saint John. She will be missed by her six grandchildren, Kelly Maloney (Tim Hatfield, Michael Maloney (Sue), Kevin Maloney, Colleen Hazen (John), Megan Noah, and Patrick Noah. Grannie Dede had five great-grandchildren, John, Daniel, and Benjamin Hatfield, and Brenna and Shaelyn Maloney. Dede is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rita butler and Mrs. Mildred Butler, and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her many friends and extended family. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Tom and Walter Butler. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday from 7 to 9 and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.. Rose de Lima Church on Monday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Romero House, the Westside Food Bank, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
