Obituary of Mary F. OMALLEY

<p>O'MALLEY, Sr. Mary F.- the death of Sister Mary Frances O'Malley (Sr. M. Ursula) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.</p> <p><br />Sister was born in St. George, a daughter of the late John A. and Julia G. (Lynch) O'Malley. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1932. Sister was a teacher by profession, receiving her B.A. and B.Ed. from Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax and her Principal Certificate from UNB. She was the Principal at Holy Rosary School in St. Stephen from 1938-1955.</p> <p><br />Sister Mary moved to Saint John to teach grades 8 &amp; 9 at St. Patrick's School from 1955-1958. Sister later taught at St. Vincent's High School and then became Principal of St. Peter's School and taught at Holy Trinity School from 1960-1966. In 1967 Sr. O'Malley moved to Edmonton where she was the Principal at St. Gerard's and St. Clare's Schools. She returned to Saint John and was Principal of St. Joseph's School from 1970-1979. Upon her completion of forty years of teaching Sr. Mary served in Pastoral Care at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1985-1995. Sister has resided at Ruth Ross Residence since 1995. She was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Alice T. Dykeman; and four brothers, Edward L., T. Earle, George W.,&nbsp; and John M. O'Malley. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Prayer Vigil will be held on Thursday at four o'clock. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent's Chapel on Friday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.</p>
