Obituary of E. Ernest Martin

The death of E. Ernest 'Ernie' Martin of 41 Golden Grove Rd., husband of Wanetta G. A. (Bridges) Martin, occurred unexpectedly at Coleson Cove on Wednesday, May 5, 2004. Mr. Martin was born in Stewarton, N.B., a son of the late Alexander 'Sandy' and Emma (Byers) Martin, and had resided in Saint John since 1958. He was employed as a millwright with Babcock & Wilcox and had previously worked at Saint John Shipbuilding. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Erica at home, Rachel Conners (Blaine), Cindy Martin, and Amanda Blanchard (Danny), all of Saint John; a step-son, Jody Bridges of Saint John; one brother, Fred Martin (Helen) of Barrie, Ont.; one sister, Sanora Kierstead (Raymond) of Sussex Corner; one half-brother, Alvin Martin of Richmond, B.C.; two half-sisters, Ramona Graves (Leslie) of Apohaqui, and Betty Adair of Sussex; three grandchildren, Hannah Blanchard, and Aiden and Andrew Conners; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday from 7 to 9 and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Service will be held at Fitzpatrick's Chapel on Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Erica Martin Trust Fund would be appreciated.
