Obituary of Daniel J. MORRISON

<p>MORRISON, Daniel J.,- It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Daniel Morrison, husband of the late Hazel (Joyce) Morrison, which occurred on October 7, 2011, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born in Saint John on August 30, 1926&nbsp; a son of the late Daniel Joseph and Mary Edith "Minnie" <br />(Semple) Morrison.</p> <p>Dan was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Hazel, for 60 wonderful years before she passed&nbsp; December 23, 2009. He was a faithful and active parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. For years Dan and Hazel enjoyed skating on their "reachers" at Lancaster Centennial Arena and Harbour Station accompanied by the bands. Dan loved the music of the Big Band Era and enjoyed playing spoons as a musical instrument.</p> <p>He was a member of the C.N.R. Retirees Association and a former member of the Senior Silver Links and the Time Stoppers Exercise Club. Dan retired from the C.N.R. as Operations Supervisor after 41 years of service. Upon Dan's retirement in 1983 they retired to "Osocosye" at 2nd Lake, Loch Lomond, where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Dan's greatest passion in life was his family; he loved family gatherings and holidays, especially Christmas.<br /><br />He is survived by five daughters, Lynn Mackin of Saint John, Jane (Bill) Gandy of Quispamsis, Susan (Bill) Melvin of Quispamsis, Dale (Bob) Keir of Quispamsis, and Tiena (Andy) Arseneau of Saint John; eight grandchildren, Melanie Mackin, Sarah Finley-Fraser, Kelly and Danny Aitken, Carrie Mullett, Jill MacFarland, Kristy Eatmon,and Jaclyn Keir; six great-grandchildren, Hilary, Clare, Jack,Johnny, Millie, and Jacob; one sister-in-law, Betty Morrison of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John "Chuck", and Donald (in infancy); and two sons-in-law, Lou Delaney and Pat Mackin.<br /><br />Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at twelve noon, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Private interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish to make remembrances, the family requests donations be made to the Diabetes Association or the charity of donor's choice.</p>
