Obituary of Gertrude Kathleen Russell

The death of Gertrude Kathleen (Power) Russell of Rocmaura Nursing Home, widow of John J. Russell occurred at her residence on June 4, 2004. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Alice (McCarthy) of Saint John and Austin A. Power of Charlottetown. Prior to her marriage she worked at Macauley's Drug Store and MGM Film Distributors. Mrs. Russell was a member of the Catholic Women's League of Sussex. She returned to Saint John after the death of her husband John Russell. She is survived by a brother, Edmund L. (Betty) Power of Delta, B.C., a sister-in-law, A. Bertha Power of Halifax, N.S., one stepson Joseph C. Russell, Palenville, New York, nieces Anne Marie McGrath, Mary Lou (David) Harris,all of Saint John, Nancy (Ralph) Carr of Sussex, Mary (Larry) Wold of Delta, B.C., Irene (Robert) Lanoville of Campbell River, B.C.Kathleen (James) Currie, of Ladner, B.C., one nephew Robert A.(Edie) Power of Lower Sackville, N.S. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her sisters Alice (Louis) McGrath, Irene (Clarence) Buchanan, and brothers Austin A. (Marion) and John T.(Bertha) and step-sons William J. Russell and Robert L. Russell. She is also survived by step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several grand-nephews including Gerry Harris and great-grand-nieces including Kayla and Cathleen Ganong. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St. (634-1965) with visiting on Sunday, June 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Moday morning at twelve o'clock. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
