Obituary of Laurence David Lawlor

Laurence D. Lawlor of Saint John, husband of the late Adrienne J “Dodie” (Vincent), passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday March 14, 2012, after a brief period of failing health. Laurie was born in Saint John on Feb 10, 1929, son of the late William F. and Helen (Gillis) Lawlor. Predeceased by his wife of 59 years, “Dodie”, sisters Catherine (Kay) Nugent, Maureen O’Neil, and brothers Greg and Peter (infant). He is survived by sons Terry (Mary Ann) of Saint John, Mark (Joanne) of Ottawa, Richard (Yvonne) of Hamilton, daughters Barbie Pattman of Saint John and Lynn (Kevin) Laskey of Quispamsis; two brothers William, Gerald “Bud” (Barb) of Saint John; one sister Joan (Oz) Ward of Ottawa; twelve grandchildren, Melissa, Sasha, Lauren Lawlor; Brendan, Katherine Lawlor; Greg (Karen) Pattman, Lindsay (Chris) Schnare; Ray, Dan, Megan Lawlor; Beth and Christopher Laskey;one great grandson Nathaniel Schnare; special niece Jennifer (Mike) Collins of Halifax; cousins and several nieces and nephews. A life long resident of Saint John, Laurie attended St. Vincents Boys High School. Well known in the wholesale/grocery business, he worked for Peter J. Lawlor Ltd., Major Vending and prior to retirement, was part owner of Regal Wholesale Ltd. He was a former member of Thistle St Andrews Curling Club. Laurie, a very kind, generous, and gentle man, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family meant everything to him. His family would like to express special thanks to Home Care Workers Ann Bouchie, Fern Losier and Linda Whittaker, for their dedication and friendship to our Dad. Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John (634-1965), with visiting on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM from St. Pius X Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
