Obituary of Peter Garnett

<p>The death of Peter Gerard Garnett of Saint John, N. B., husband to Geraldine (Richard) occurred on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born in Saint John, N. B. on January 13, 1922 and was the son of the late Robert J. &amp; Mary (Johnson) Garnett. Peter is survived by his sons Peter Garnett and Robert (Brenda) Garnett of Saint John and daughters, Eileen (Stuart) MacDonald of Rothesay and Janice (Greg) Stevens of Rockland, Ontario. He is survived by one brother Leslie Garnett of Saint John, grandchildren, Robert and Jared Garnett, Tomalyn (Mike) Young, Heather, Lauren &amp; Scott MacDonald of Saint John and Mathea, Garnett &amp; Jon Stevens of Rockland, Ontario, and great grandchildren, Logan Garnett &amp; Hudson Young, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Peter worked 17 years as a painter with Robert J. Garnett &amp; Sons and worked 28 years with the New Brunswick Liquor Control Commission. He served overseas as a Corporal in Newfoundland during WWII with the RAF (RCAF) and was a member of the 250 Wing of Saint John. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus # 937. He had a great sense of humor and was well-known for his story telling. His pride and joy was &quot;the camp&quot; at Willow Grove and he spent many an hour there. He also enjoyed many lobster feeds at the cottage in PEI. He will be greatly missed by the family and many friends.</p> <p>Visitation will take place at Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute to a veteran service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:05pm on Friday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will take place at St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery immediately after the mass, followed by a reception at Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home. Donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Celiac Association or the donor&rsquo;s choice would be appreciated by the family.</p>
