Obituary of James Edward Patrick ONeil

<p>The death of James Edward Patrick O&rsquo;Neil of Saint John, husband of the late Helen (McLean) O&rsquo;Neil, occurred on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Ridgewood Veteran&rsquo;s Wing. Born in Saint John on July 9, 1924, he was a son of the late D. Roy and Mary (O&rsquo;Brien) O&rsquo;Neil.</p> <p>He attended St. Vincent&rsquo;s Boys School and then the Saint John Community College, where he worked in the Book store.</p> <p>James was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy, mainly on the HMCS, Grou-Corvette, and the Royal Canadian Air Force.&nbsp; After the war James became a plumber, working for several years until his retirement.</p> <p>James was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Jarvis Bay and Branch #58&nbsp; and was a current member of Branch #69 , the Main Brace Club, RCNA Central NB Branch, Vancouver Naval Veteran&rsquo;s Association and Plumber Union Local 213.</p> <p>Survived by his sons, James Edward O&rsquo;Neil Jr. (Barb) of London, ON, Brian Clement O&rsquo;Neil (Ida) of Saint John; daughter, Debi O&rsquo;Neil of Saint John; three grandchildren, James, Debi and Mark; four great grandchildren, Justin, Holly, Aidan and Cole; sisters, Sr. Helen O&rsquo;Neil, as well as several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>James was predeceased by his wife, Helen (McLean) O&rsquo;Neil; sister, Sr. Dorothy O&rsquo;Neil; brothers, D. Roy O&rsquo;Neil, Norman O&rsquo;Neil, and Gerard O&rsquo;Neil.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street</strong>, Saint John (634-1965) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Royal Canadian Legion Veteran Tribute service will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Ann&rsquo;s Church on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place in St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the Church Hall. &nbsp;For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Ridgewood Veteran&rsquo;s Wing or to Romero House, would be appreciated.</p>
