Obituary of Sister Bertha A. Goodine

<p>The death of Sister Bertha Agnes Goodine (Sister M. Terasita), occurred on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Ruth Ross Residence. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie (O&rsquo;Regan) Goodine.</p> <p>Bertha entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 8, 1938. Sister earned three degrees, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education and a Master of Education from the University of New Brunswick. During her teaching career, Sister Bertha taught at various schools in Saint John, New Brunswick, which include Mount Carmel Academy, Holy Trinity, St. Patrick&rsquo;s and St. John the Baptist. Sister moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1974, where she was the Supervisor of the Reading Lab at St. Mary&rsquo;s Junior High School and later continued her career as Resource Room Teacher at St. Hilda&rsquo;s Elementary School. Sister became a full-time volunteer at Norwood Extended Care Home in Edmonton, Alberta and later became Co-ordinator of Pastoral Care. Sister Bertha returned to New Brunswick in 1996 and resided at St. Dunstan&rsquo;s Convent in Fredericton and returned to Saint John in 1997 where she resided at Mount Carmel Convent moving to Ruth Ross Residence in Saint John, New Brunswick in 2003.</p> <p>Besides her parents, Sister Bertha was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald C. and Ralph R Goodine, and her sister, Sister Evelyn Goodine, SCIC.</p> <p>Resting at Ruth Ross Residence with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with a Prayer Vigil that evening at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Ruth Ross Residence, Carmel Chapel on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment to take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph&rsquo;s Cemetery.&nbsp; Arrangements under the care and direction of <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street</strong>, Saint John (634-1965).</p>
