Obituary of Philip Gerald Duffley
<p>The death of Philip Gerald Duffley, of Saint John, NB, husband of Adeline T. (Viger) Duffley occurred on January 28, 2013, surrounded by his family. Born in Saint John on April 13, 1927, Philip was the youngest son of the late George and Ellen (Quinn) Duffley of Saint John.</p> <p>Philip was pre-deceased by his wife Adeline, his brother Bernard, his sister Reverend Sr. Theresa (SoS) and grand-daughter Rebecca Duffley. He is survived by his sister Helen (Barrett) of Sechelt, BC, his two daughters, Theresa Upton (Scott) of Kingston, ON and Carmel Dobbelsteyn (Michael) of Saint John; five sons, Blaine (Anne) of Ottawa, ON, Daniel (Kathryn) of Burr, SK, Philip (Florbela) of Halifax, NS, Peter (Corena) of San Diego, CA, and Harrison of Moncton; fourteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Philip worked for Kennedy Refrigeration in Saint John before entering the Congregation of Holy Cross where he served as a brother in Austin, New Orleans, and New York. He then taught for over 25 years at Rothesay Senior and Junior High Schools where he inspired many. Phil found his greatest contentment as an avid gentleman farmer on the Washademoak.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street </strong>(634-1965), visiting will be on January 29th and 30th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 31st at St Ann’s Church, Simpson Drive, at 11 am. Interment will take place at a later date at St Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to Divine Mercy Catholic School, Bobby’s Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choosing would be appreciated.</p>
