Obituary of Donald M. Harvey
<p>The death of Donald Myric Harvey of Quispamsis, husband of Veronica "Bonnie" (McCluskey) Harvey, occurred on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Kilburn, NB on March 2, 1934, he was a son of the late Harrison and Madeline (Grant) Harvey.</p> <p>Don attended Vocational School and graduated in 1953, he then served as a woodworking Instructor at the school. He was a member of 3<sup>rd</sup> Field Regiment from 1952-1958. Don was employed with John Flood and Son and then went on to become Superintendent with Acme Construction where he remained until 1968, when he formed Harvey Construction. He later formed Superior Precast and D & M Flagstone Ltd.</p> <p>He joined the Saint John Kinsmen Club in 1967 and actively participated in the Service Club’s Charitable works until the late 1990’s. Don was voted Kinsman of the Year in 1970, and he served as President from 1971 to 1972. He was instrumental in forming the Rothesay Kinsmen Club in the 1980’s and received a Recognition Award from the Club in 1985 for his involvement in the Club and fund raising for Cystic Fibrosis. In recognition of his dedication, he was made a life member of the Kinsmen Club of Canada in 1983.</p> <p>Don was an avid hunter and curler and also enjoyed Broom Ball as a young man. He was a fabulous storyteller and loved to sit around with friends and family having a chat. He could often be found chatting on the phone to his grandson, Liam about history or sharing a laugh with friends at Tim Horton’s before bringing home an evening coffee to the love of his life, Bonnie. Don was a wonderful and much loved father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.</p> <p>Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Daniel Harvey (Twyla) of Fredericton, and Melody Harvey of Saint John, grandchildren; Matthew, Michelle, Nathan, Hannah, Liam, Bryce and Madelaine, brother-in-law, Patrick McCluskey (Diane), son-in-law; Randy Lundrigan, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Don was predeceased by his brother, Harrison Harvey.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John</strong>, (634-1965). Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 12:00 PM from Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home Chapel, with visiting beginning at 10AM. Interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or to the Palliative Care Unit, would be appreciated.</p>
