Obituary of Donald Frederick Horgan

<p>The family and friends of Donnie are saddened at his passing after a long and very courageous battle with the complications of diabetes.&nbsp; Donnie died at the Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John on Friday, August 9, 2013.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Born at Saint John in 1931, he was a son of the late Daniel Joseph Horgan and Beatrice Mary (King) Horgan.&nbsp; He was born at the family homestead on the Churchland Road, and lived for many years in that same area which he loved so well.&nbsp; Hunting, fishing, gardening and enjoying a beer with good friends and neighbours gave this man happiness and contentment his whole life.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Donnie was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend Mary (McLaughlin).&nbsp; Survived by his sons Gary and Shane (grandsons Justin and Devon) as well as by his brothers Murray (Rae), Daniel and Noel (Margie).&nbsp; In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by brothers: Harold, Ken, Cyril and sisters Doris, Rita, Winnifred, Eileen and Beatrice.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Donnie worked his whole life as a respected chef at the Saint John General Hospital , retiring from Ridgewood Veterans Wing.&nbsp; For many years he was a dedicated member of the Armed Forces Reserves.</p> <p>Resting at <strong>Fitzpatrick&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street</strong>, Saint John, (634-1965) with visiting on Sunday from 2:00 &ndash; 4:00 and 7:00 &ndash; 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 12, 2013 from St. Joseph&rsquo;s Church, 4347 Loch Lomond Road, at 11:00 AM followed by a reception at the Hope Centre and internment at St. Patrick&rsquo;s Cemetery, Golden Grove. <a href="http://www.fitzpatrickfh.com">www.fitzpatrickfh.com</a></p>
