Obituary of Marie Shannon

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marie (Burke) Shannon, which occurred on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on April 11, 1930 she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Mary (Cormier) Burke. Marie was employed with St. Joseph’s Hospital as a nurse’s aid for twenty years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception CWL. Marie is survived by her children’s father, Edward Joseph Shannon; four sons, Eric of Montreal, Paul of Sackville, Peter of Saint John and Barry of Moncton; four daughters, Anita Stevens (Brian), Gail Shannon, Janet Vautour all of Saint John, and Mary Claire Follette (Robert) of Montreal; one brother, Cyril “Cecil” Bourque of Hammond River; two sisters, Rose Mary “Bunny” Snow of Bloomfield, Eileen Galloway of Quispamsis; special family member, Laura; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John, NB (634-1965) with visiting on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 12:10 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
